hello world
hello people! this is my first attempt at writing a blog—well, second if you count the homepage.
i've been an avid reader for most of my life. But lately, i have noticed that this habit has extended beyond just fiction books. I find myself reading more articles and blogs instead of watching videos on YouTube nowadays. I don’t know… something about reading just feels more personal, a connection with the author.
hence, here i am! trying my hands. maybe i get 0 views, maybe i get 5. but hey, its a start!
I literally procrastinated for about a year, trying to start writing.
seeing a blank page in front of me, with a blinking cursor, just seemed uncomfortable. like..what do i even write about??
i wanted my blog to be flawless, from the get-go, and maybe that was the issue.
be fast, not perfect.
give more importance to being fast, shipping fast, putting yourself out there in public as soon as possible. do not wait till you feel you have the best product in the world.
i know i know, this will be hard to digest, especially for my fellow perfectionists out there. but hear me out. it is always better to fail quickly and retry, than to spend months planning the first drop itself.
why?
cause you get the initial feedback quick. you can iterate better.
and, there is no better way to beat procrastination than to just start. doesn't matter if you start small, or if you start wrong. once you get the ball rolling, its easier to continue working.
everyone is trying their best to live in this world, and no one will kill you if you don't get it right the first time.
always?
nah, obviously not. there are some situations where its necessary, and also more efficient, if you take your time, plan everything, and then dive in.
you might ask, okay chidu, but when to do what?
well, now thats for you to figure out. if life had a single roadmap to success, it would be way too easy no?
